Keeping Pipes Cool in the Heat of Summer

We are in the dead smack of summer, folks. Many people worry about plumbing and freezing pipes in winter but have you thought about sweaty pipes during the summer? Here are some tips to prevent sweating pipes in extreme heat.

Find the pipes most prone to risk. Generally, the ones most likely to freeze in the winter are the ones most likely to cause sweat and dripping.  This can include pipes in the attic, garage, under your kitchen cabinets or any other exposed pipes.

Start by wiping down the pipes with a cloth. Then, slip pre-slit pipe foam over each exposed pipe for a layer of insulation. Seal tightly.

Simply placing a dehumidifier in your home will eliminate any access humidity and moisture. This will keep your exposed pipes dry and eliminate any dripping condensation.
